We get many teams who come to Guatemala to work in various capacities. Most have a desire to “bless” the Guatemalan people. Some, however, go over and above in getting involved with and loving individuals they meet. One such team is the group from Resurrection Lutheran Church in Spring, Texas. This group worked with us at Hope Haven for two great days of wheelchair distributions.
Many of the folks on this team had seated people in wheelchairs before, and their competence was greatly appreciated.

What stood out in my mind about this team is their willingness to just “be there” for the children and their families, to just share the love of Jesus through their attitudes as well as their actions.
Every time I looked at this lady (whose name I unfortunately can’t remember) she was loving on somebody.
The members of this team had an unusual sensitivity to the children and their needs and responses.
Dr. Tim rolling up a tape measure for Dulce who had been upset.
He was the only one who could figure out what she wanted--
because he had been watching her with loving attention.
They were not afraid to take time just to get to know the kids and have fun with them!
Team member Jennifer laughing with Esmeralda, one of the happiest little girls we’ve had at a distribution
Personally, I was welcomed and affirmed by this team beyond what I ever would have expected. They came not only to change the lives of those they served, but to have their lives touched and changed by God in the process of serving. I sure hope they come back!
