Often it's a spontaneous visit, like the Sunday the boys went to the orphanage after church--and came home for dinner with an extra person. Somehow, on a Sunday, Tony and Fidel managed to get permission for Moises to come home with them for a visit.
Though Tony works weekends alone (with some help from Marcos for baths and church), he never seems to mind having an extra person to help out.
Other times, Dick might sign someone out for lunch at Camperos, and get lost and find himself a our door, like he did one day with Byron.
And sometimes it's even planned. One Saturday Cesar and Elder came in after their football game and joined Henry and Miguel, who Tony and I had brought home for lunch.
Micki and Henry are definitely Tony's favorites.
Cesar is pretty partial to them, too.
They seem to enjoy just hanging at the house with the guys, and we love having, too!
And when it starts to rain, and they need to go home, we improvise. Did you know an old tablecloth can be cut up to make an effective rain poncho for a wheelchair?
So, while I miss spending time at Hermano Pedro, an unexpected benefit of Casa de Esperanza is that it gives some of the kids short snatches of "family time" in a home setting that they otherwise would not have. Pretty goo trade-off if you ask me.
